Cointime update: Mastercard has been granted two US patents covering cryptocurrency transaction preprocessing and private transaction processing. The first analyzes both parties’ historical on-chain records to model post-transfer risk changes, helping users assess money-laundering and terrorist-financing exposure before a transaction executes. The second lets transfers run within an authorized private group, with a central approval system verifying balances and preventing double-spending while preserving privacy. Mastercard launched its Stablecoin Security service on October 19 and has not confirmed whether the patented technology will be applied to it.
