Cointime update: Instagram announced Thursday that it is bringing its short-video editing app Edits to the Mac desktop. The desktop version is designed for more complex editing projects that benefit from a larger screen, mouse and keyboard, the company said. The move puts Edits in more direct competition with ByteDance’s CapCut, which has offered desktop versions for Windows and Mac since 2021. The desktop app includes licensed and royalty-free music, sound and video effects, plus automatic captions in multiple languages.
