Cointime update: Google is backing Anthropic’s $19 billion, 20-year data center lease with bitcoin miner TeraWulf, covering 401 megawatts of computing capacity at a Kentucky site. If Anthropic misses rent payments or goes bankrupt, Google can take over the lease or pay a termination fee and receive partial equity in Raylan Data, the TeraWulf subsidiary operating the project — not in listed TeraWulf itself. Capacity delivery is expected from late 2027 through Q2 2028.
