A Year in Three Acts
Cointime reports: The past year in crypto was not a simple bull-bear cycle but a three-act drama: a peak in late 2025, a deep bear market through mid-2026, and a Q3 recovery followed by a secondary pullback in October-November. According to a review of ten sector-representative tokens by Huobi HTX chief analyst Cloud, only two assets delivered positive returns: HYPE (up 115.7%) and ZEC (up 232.0%), while DOGE fell 52.9%, the worst performer.
Fibonacci Levels as Market Memory
The analysis, based on daily perpetual contract data from November 4, 2025 to November 5, 2026, applies Fibonacci retracement to each token’s yearly high-low range. These levels are not mystical; they record the market’s pricing memory of a complete range. Bitcoin precisely bounced off the 61.8% retracement at $76,852 and has reclaimed $80,700, now approaching the 50% level at $82,749. BNB is sitting exactly at its 61.8% level of $721, while LINK has reclaimed its 61.8% at $10.74 and TAO bounced precisely from its 78.6% at $219.5.
Divergence: Cash Flow vs. Narrative
The stark divergence reflects a market voting with real money. HYPE, the token of decentralized perpetual exchange Hyperliquid, benefited from genuine cash flows and buyback mechanisms. ZEC, the privacy coin, surged more than eightfold from its low as privacy narratives returned to the mainstream. In contrast, DOGE, lacking any cash flow anchor, suffered the deepest drawdown and remains just 14% above its yearly low. ETH and SOL, despite strong Q3 rebounds, remain below their 61.8% levels, weighed by L2 fee cannibalization and high beta respectively.
What to Watch
Three main themes will dominate the coming year: liquidity (Fed rate decisions), cash-flow valuation (real revenue over narrative), and structural events (ETF approvals for XRP and SOL, privacy regulation, RWA infrastructure). As the report notes, long-cycle levels tell us where we are; these three themes tell us where we might go.
