Cointime update: The National Bank of Ukraine has refused to back the current version of the country’s crypto legalization and regulation bill, No. 10225-d, saying it lacks necessary regulatory safeguards and could threaten monetary sovereignty, financial stability and economic security. The central bank flagged unregulated foreign tokens entering the Ukrainian market and objected to letting the securities regulator decide how many crypto trading platforms may operate in the first five years. The bill would make the National Securities and Stock Market Commission the main crypto regulator and impose a 5% transition tax on existing crypto assets until end-2028.
