Cointime update: US Central Command chief Gen. Brad Cooper ordered the creation of Task Force Iron Gate on Nov. 7, a roughly 20-person civilian and military team based in Tampa, Florida, to stop Iran from moving advanced weapons, dual-use technology, sanctioned goods and illicit funds across its land borders and the Caspian Sea. Cooper said the unit builds on the success of the US maritime blockade, which has cost Iran more than $25 billion in crude exports in recent months.
