Fed’s Hammack: Monetary Policy Needs to Turn Restrictive

Cointime update: Federal Reserve’s Beth Hammack said on November 5 that monetary policy needs to move to a restrictive stance, noting inflation has been too high and is moving in the wrong direction. She said gradual rate hikes cause less disruption to the economy and financial system and that she favors frequent, small rate adjustments. SignalPlus discloses hack loss under $82K, pledges full user reimbursement

Cointime update: SignalPlus said on Nov. 5 that a cyberattack in the early hours of Nov. 4 caused total losses of less than $82,000, with affected users to be fully reimbursed. The attackers took over a third-party vendor contact’s Telegram account, sent a fake Microsoft Teams meeting invite and infected an engineer’s device to breach the internal network. SignalPlus said it blocked the attack, had partner exchanges disable all associated API keys and paused services for a security review, expecting a phased restoration within days.

Polygon Draft PIP-93 Would Merge Security Council, Set 7-Day Upgrade Delay

Cointime update: Polygon governance proposal PIP-93 would consolidate its existing security council and multisig structure and let Polygon Labs propose bridge and staking contract upgrades through a separate multisig, subject to a 7-day delay. The new security council would have 11 signers from 10 institutions with an 8-of-11 threshold, able to cancel queued transactions and propose and immediately execute changes. A Polygon Labs operations multisig with a 5-of-9 threshold could not bypass the upgrade delay. The proposal remains a draft, with details due at a November 5 governance call.
